Performance has several definitions according to Miriam Webster:
the execution of an action
the capabilities of a machine, vehicle, or product, especially when observed under particular conditions.
the manner of reacting to stimuli
It’s interesting to think of these as it applies to ourselves…
How am I able to execute an action?
What am I capable of under particular conditions?
How do I react to stimuli?
It makes our theme for Breakfast Club this weekend- Preparing for Performance even more layered.
While we are going to dive into performance from a more sport specific lens, performance stretches to so many areas of our lives.
Our ability to move our bodies and keep ourselves fueled is crucial for running a marathon, but also, for carrying a laundry basket up and down the stairs.
Prioritizing nutrients and stretching is important for recovering well before your next workout but also helps your be more able to stay on task at work.
Nourishing ourselves and prioritizing mobility is important for lifting heavy weights but also for picking kids up off the ground.
So this weekend, come and hangout with us as we talk to Dr. Christy Lee with It Is Well PT all about preparing for performance.
From conversation surrounding how we can get our PT in more effectively and what an effective training split looks like for your goals- all the way to what fueling for performance looks like and some strategy behind it.
Learn how you can work with your system as you prepare for whatever type of performance your life includes and why prioritizing our sports performance can be advantageous for performance in other areas of our lives.
